find your focus.

I set aside the last week of December to hash out ALL my goals and my plans to reach them in 2017 and beyond.

With piles and stacks of notebooks, scratch paper, eNotes and the like, I started to categorize it all under the two main goals (income and reach).

Once I did this, it was super easy to take each little note, blurb and hastily scratched out idea and put it where it belonged in the greater scheme of the main goals, or if it belonged in the trash.

Setting the two main annual goals then allowed me to break everything down into what needed to be done per quarter, per month, and per week.

Everything was then written into the Passion Planner and/or Lisa Jacob’s Your Best Year business planner. So with room for adjustment and unexpecteds of course, the entire year is a map to the main goals.

Now that I’m a couple of weeks in on the plan, things are going really well. Productivity has definitely increased, and I feel so much more relaxed about ALL THE THINGS THERE ARE TO DO because all the things that need to happen to accomplish the goals are specific, broken down to task, and scheduled according to quarter, month and week.

Everything has it’s place in the rank of priorities, and everything that needs to be handled will be handled.

This is the most control of the overwhelm I’ve ever felt.

This is also the most focused I’ve ever felt. It’s taken me a long time to be able to really be present in any given moment, but a commitment to daily meditation has really made some huge impacts in my life – the ability to be fully present being one of them.

But the message here is that YOU have to take control of where you’re focusing your energy if you want to get to the Thing.

You literally and figuratively cannot rely on anyone else to create the life you want or to bring you happiness. Others can contribute in many ways, but you are responsible for your life. No one else.

No one is working to make your dreams come true.

You have to take the action.

YOU.

I forgive you, 2016. On to 2017.

If you subscribe, you got my note on Monday about taking advantage of this week to channel your energy for 2017. Today is the New Moon, and also the most powerful time to set your intentions for the new year ahead.

This past year was very much about forgiveness for me, though it took me awhile to realize it. It wasn’t until around winter solstice (a time of forgiveness) that I understood the shift that was needed.

I think, as souls, we plan our lives ahead of time in the context of the things we want to learn in order to grow and expand. Having free will and choice, we go through as many different struggles as it takes for us to learn the lesson and move forward.

Those struggles show up in many ways, in the form of circumstances and people that come into our lives.

I’m not going to lie, I’ve hung onto emotional wounds that were inflicted as far back as childhood.

WTF good has that done? Not letting go can waste endless hours of mental energy that could be put towards growth and expansion instead.

When people hurt you, or when super shitty shit happens, try to remember that your Self put that in motion before you came here.

It is your job to figure out the lesson that you’re supposed to learn.

Once you acknowledge and accept the lesson, you can level up and move forward.

Forgiveness, in my case, is something that was somewhat undefined and much easier said than done.

When you detach personally from the ‘bad thing’ and are able to view it as just a super shitty class in the curriculum of life that you planned for yourself before coming here, it’s a game-changer for your mental well-being. At least it was for me 🙂

Once you can get to that point, you can get to a place of gratitude – for the lesson and for the growth and expansion you’ve experienced.

After the Solstice comes the New Moon (today!) and as I said above, the most powerful time for setting intentions for your life.

I want to know :

What is YOUR plan for 2017?

What are you DOING to get closer to your goals and to make your dreams reality?

What are you doing to deepen your CONNECTION to nature and your higher self?

I’m over the moon about 2017 and how amazing it’s going to be. I can’t wait to hear what YOUR intentions are for 2017.

Resolutions vs. Plans

At the beginning of every year, I hear people make these declarations about things they’re going to do starting in January, or at some point in the coming 365 days.  Their “New Year’s Resolutions”.

resolution

: the act of finding an answer or solution to a conflict, problem, etc.

: the act of resolving something

: an answer or solution to something

Most of the time, I find that these declared resolutions actually fit better into one of these two categories:

goal

: something that you are trying to do or achieve

or

intention

: the thing that you plan to do or achieve

: an aim or purpose

: a determination to act in a certain way

: what one intends to do or bring about

Working out more, losing __ pounds, quit smoking, quit drinking, the list goes on.

I know that this is just me being picky about semantics.  But I feel like there are a lot of people that make these ‘resolutions’, and by February they are a distant memory. Why is that?

There are also these things:

dream

: something that you have wanted very much to do, be, or have for a long time

: a strongly desired goal or purpose

aspiration

: a strong desire to achieve something high or great

Now we’re increasing the magnitude of the words.  Dreams and aspirations.  Those sound like long-term ideas, right?  Not something that most people think about doing in the next few months.  But why not?  Every idea has to start somewhere, right?

It isn’t just going to happen in one day, it takes hundreds or thousands of little steps in the direction of your dream.

Steps that you can easily start taking in January, or right now preferably. 🙂

All these things stem from this:

desire

: to want or wish for (something)

: to feel desire for (something)

: to long or hope for

But desire means nothing if you don’t have this:

commitment

: a promise to do or give something

: a promise to be loyal to someone or something

: the attitude of someone who works very hard to do or support something

plan

: a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something

: an intention or decision about what one is going to do
Without these two factors, NONE of these things will ever come to fruition.  Ever.

Probably 90% of people don’t follow through with their “resolutions” past March.

Why is that? Do people make resolutions because they feel like they should? New Year, New Me?  That whole concept?

If you really, truly want something, you are going to COMMIT to getting it.

So what is it? What is it that you DESIRE? DREAM about? ASPIRE to?

Solidify your vision, and just fucking do it.  Figure out what steps you need to take to get there, and make it happen.

Quit listening to your Fear and start listening to your Self. Quit making excuses.

Make a promise to yourself.  Be loyal to yourself.  Take care of yourself. LOVE yourself.  Respect yourself enough to follow through with the things you’ve always dreamed about.

You have unlimited potential as a human.  Let’s embrace it. Let’s make some PLANS.
